This means they don’t get any Hue magic light, but to me that’s a fine compromise to get more convenience by switching to them via the LG remote. For this reason, I ended up just connecting them to other HDMI ports on my TV. This means you can’t connect them to the Hue HDMI box, because it would be very inconvenient to switch to them (without CEC, they don’t show up as a source to TV, so the only way would be to open the app and switch from there). I also have a Portal TV and a Nintendo Switch, so my solution was simply to disable CEC for those two. Thanks to an awesome Redditor, I learned that CEC has a limit of three devices. Dolby Vision does work correctly with Light Sync.Īnother thing that was driving me NUTS is HDMI CEC. That's it! This will get you a Dolby Vision signal while Enhanced Compatibility is on, and this is what did the trick for me.

This will force a dolby vision signal from the Apple TV. Go the AppleTV's Settings > Video and Audio and you should see "Try Dolby Vision". Don't worry, save and keep it that way for now. Your Apple TV signal will downgrade to HDR. Turn on enhanced Dolby Vision compatibility in the Hue Sync app.

I’m using a Shield TV Pro 2019, a Samsung N950 Soundbar, a 2017 LG OLED TV, all compatible with Dolby Vision (it works just fine without the SyncBox). The whole point of DV is to get a better image quality than in HDR10, with the option ON it gets noticeably worse (washed out colors, loss in sharpness) If I do turn it ON, then the light synchronisation works, but the image quality gets butchered, so that’s not an acceptable option in my opinion.

I have the “Dolby Vision Enhanced Compatibility” option on OFF.

I do get Dolby Vision stream correctly displayed on the TV, but the lights do not sync and display random colors instead. I recently purchased a SyncBox, however I am having issues with Dolby Vision content which does not work properly.
